Could my CPU be overclock-protected?

I have AMD Athlon X4 750k Quad-core @3.4GHz, I was thinking of setting the clock up to 3.8GHz, since I heard people running it at this frequency with no issues, but whenever I change the values using AMD OverDrive and hit apply, they go back to default values. I tried disabling Turbo Core, but the issue persists. After that, I figured I'd give it a shot from BIOS, but the multiplier for base frequency is currently set to 100, making it 3.4GHz and the only values that I can change it to are ranging from 100 to 105. So at 105 multiplier I'd get 3.57GHz. It's an MSI motherboard, so it's their BIOS, same one as from the pic below:

Thing is, I bought the PC already assembled from one of the local chain stores, with a warranty and all that. Could they have installed some kind of protection against overclocking the PC? If so, can I remove it or what do you suggest I do?

If 105 multiplier is the best I can do, should I put it at 3.57GHz? Will this cause problems since the value isn't "exact" in decimals?

Ok, but it's the only value that actually changes the clock to go up. I guess it's not a multiplier, since there's a value below it that's a multiplier which ranges from 0-34 and multiplies with the FSB/BCLK. Either way, I still can't get it up above 3400MHz.

Also, side note, I can change the clock in AMD OverDrive to go down (x33, x32, etc...), but not up. I've seen people managing to clock this CPU way above 3400MHz, it's not one of those that shipped locked, so I don't understand what's the reason I can't do it.

FSB/BCLK x CPU multiplier = Processor frequency.
That may be a limitation of your MB. You can also use FSB but with manual setting at 100MHz of PCIe. It will also change your RAM frequency and if it can't OC you might have to lower it's multiplier and negate much of gains from processor OC.
Also check if you have most recent BIOS version, it may open some possibilities.

Can't update BIOS either, found the support page on MSI website for my model, but when I run the executable it says it doesn't match my MB. Anyway, if I can't set the clock higher than 3.4GHz even through AMD OverDrive, isn't it something other than MB bios or limitations?
