Hello,

I have a laptop which in 2008 or so when I bought it was very performant, now it takes ages to load, I use my computer for web/movies/reading PDF and writing programs in Visual C Community (the version I downloaded a year ago takes ages to load), so the one thing that I can change is the RAM.

TOSHIBA Satellite L40-12K
Part Number: PSL40E-02801LDU
CPU type : Intel® Pentium® Dual-Core Processor T2130
speed : 1.86 GHz
Front Side Bus : 533 MHz
2nd level cache : 1 MB
OS Geniuine Windows® Vista® Home Premium
Memory standard : 2,048 (1,024 + 1,024) MB
maxim : 2,048 MB
tehnology : DDR2 RAM (667 MHz)
Hard Disk capacity : 120 GB

I have windows 7 on it.

I tried to open it to clean the cooler, and I couldn't open it entirely, but I remember I opened with screw driver enough to find the 2 RAMs which where easy to remove.

Since I have 32bits processor I can't get higher than 4GB anyhow.

My question is what memory parts exactly should I by, 2x2GB would be the obvious, but I am worried about compatibility, since my computer is old and I noticed the RAM configuration did not change very much in numbers, so I believe it did in technology. I would like to use new components, hope not to need to search for used ones.

Thank you.

I didn't even know that it can be impossible to add more RAM :( I know there is a limitation of 4GB for 32bits processor, but not other limitations.
But I looked and even in my description it says 2GB is maxim, so you are right.
So basically I can't do anything do upgrade it? It's because of the motherboard chipset?:(

Was expensive even if bought on offer, and it was very good since not once did I take it to a repair shop in 10 years and I turn on the comp when I wake up and shut it down when I go to sleep. If I am to get a new one, a will get a Toshiba, but they are expensive as hell.

Thank you for your answer.
