I recently bought a new motherboard, and I had the same issue on my previous one but after replugging in the SATA data cable it started to work. On this new one, I have tried all the sata ports; set the hard drive to be the primary boot drive in the bios; and I was about to re-install windows. What’s weird is that the American Megatrends screen and the bios detect the hard drive. Do I have to reinstall windows?

also I can’t get into windows, only the bios.

Specs:
i5 2500K
Asus P8H61-M LX2
EVGA 660Ti 3Gb Super-Clocked
2TB Seagate Hard Drive
8GB G.Skill 1600

i know its old, but it still plays counter strike with 200+ fps

Solution
And yup you'll have to reinstall windows / do a clean install .

If the hdd was in something else, and you've installed it in another system / on another mobo.

It may boot but it'll crash sooner or later. if you dont reinstall windows

Sorry for the late response, I was with family. So if I re-install windows from a USB, I’ll be able to boot in and I can use my computer?

Alright man thanks, hopefully I can find a USB. My parents are on their way out for dinner. Thanks for the help man, I’ll do it when I’m finished eating.
