I am interested more in buying components that revolves around an AMD processor, not Intel (except if it is expensive for higher video capability). From what a technician has suggested, an AMD CPU, whereby I don't have to install a video card, has more capability; and power than an Intel processor at a reasonable price; for one of the reasons to buy, and install such a central processing unit that has a video adapter built-in. Furthermore, I already have a power supply that is 380 watts, 80+ bronze.

Since I am also using my laptop (of 2013), operating on Windows 10 (with AMD A8, 8GB DDR 3 memory), and future desktop (tower) computers for photography, digital art, broadly speaking visual art, he said that such a choice of CPU (by AMD) would work well for me. I do intend to install plenty of very fast system memory, at least 8GB at first; DDR4, preferably. Does anybody think there are any advantages for a desktop computer to have an AMD processor, instead of a more expensive, and more popular Intel CPU? Thank you for any wise advise.

Sincerely,

A newer AMD Ryzen APU is what your going to need for your photography work. As for which (Intel or AMD) to go with it really won't matter as both can do what your looking for. If anything I'd make sure you get a decent SSD to speed up the system considerably over a HDD.

For a motherboard I'd recommend a B350 motherboard so you have the option to overclock, if you don't want that ability and want to save some money then the A320 boards are fine, both AM4 socket.

For a given price point, an AMD APU will have better integrated graphics performance but (significantly) worse CPU performance than an Intel chip. Once AMD's next generation of APUs come out (scheduled for first quarter or first half of 2018 I believe) should narrow the gap in CPU performance considerably.

Thank you for your advice, WildCard999. I'm going to consider the AMD Ryzen APU, and that motherboard, the A320. And thanks for the suggestion of a solid state drive, too.

Thank you for your important advise on the AMD APU. I forgot that it should be called an APU
