M.2 SSD Compatibility With Motherboard

I have purchased the Asus Rod Strix b350-f (https://www.asus.com/uk/Motherboards/ROG-STRIX-B350-F-GAMING/HelpDesk_QVL/) and I am planning on getting a crucial m.2 sata ssd (https://www.newegg.com/global/uk/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820156154)but I am unsure if it is compatible or not, and if all m.2 ssds are compatible with all m.2 slots. The motherboard wesite shows a list of ssd's in a PDF but I am unsure if this a list of all compatible ssd's or just qualified ssd's and if I can still get an ssd that is not on the list.

That M2 will run at about the same speeds as a SATA SSD. Like an 850 EVO for example.

The list is just SSDs they tested so they guarantee those work. It does not mean others won't. Same thing for the RAM list.

I would get a 960 EVO for some real speed. SATA M2's are no faster than a regular SSD.
