Hello guys,

I was waiting for some New Years Deals and I found out this FTW2 iCX model here: LINK.

It is about the same price of the SC ACX 3.0 model and I thought of buying it since I read this new iCX cooler is better and this model recently got a BIOS upgrade that speeds up memory to 11 GHz.

The problem is that this 6684 version does not have an factory OC clock of 1721/1860 - it does have a default clock of 1607/1733.

How much this clock difference affect the product quality? Does the SC ACX 3.0 version beat it because of its 1708/1847 clock despiste having a ACX cooler vs iCX?

EVGA ACX 3.O LINK

Thanks in advance!

Why would you get the DT vers over the standard FTW2?

There really is no logical reason...

The FTW2 card would be my choice since it uses a custom pcb, better cooler, and has the higher memory speed out of the box. The small factory overclock will not be a very large performance difference most likely you could add that small overclock (or higher) to the FTW card yourself. Both cards will hit real world boost clocks that are higher than advertised anyway due to the way gpu boost works and since they have non-reference coolers they will be able to actually maintain those speeds.

I am a little newb to overclocking but let me ask you: do I need any special cooling system in order to push foward these clock numbers you said?

I don't wanna mess with water blocks and stuff and I dunno if my PSU is good enough for OC (Thermaltake Smart Series 600W SPD-0600P).

Do you think that 1607 FTW2 model can reach like 2k GHz clock without burning my rig? I know the SC model can do it but this gimped FTW2 model have like 0 reviews.

That said the FTW2 is the one to get (Non DT Vers) and a lot better than the SC vers as far as cooling and OCing goes.

Ands for the PSU, you really need to get a better quality unit, the Smart series is NOT GOOD AT ALL.

In the EVGA GTX 1080 line the Monsters are the FTW, FTW2 and the Classified (Insane).

I have a FTW2 GTX 1080 and it is a Monster over clocker.

Here in my country there's only one resseller selling the FTW2 non-DT version (the 1721 clock one) but it's price is like 400 dollars more expensive - that's a 1080ti price range and I just can't afford it.

The only ones I can buy are the FTW2 DT (1607 clock), SC ACX 3.0 and maybe a Mini Zotac 1080 - which is cheaper but less capable.

Besides these options there are only TI models for US 400-500 more or 1070 TI for like US 100 less.

I decided go for these low tier 1080 because EVGA GPUs have very good support here in Brazil and the 1070ti / 1080ti prices are still too high.

Its just hard to find good and affordable 1080s here.

There is only a $20 difference in price between the FTW2 DT and FTW2.

I would try and order online and have it shipped in so you don't get ripped off.

Sadly that's how things work here.

Buying it online it's not an option since I lose the warranty and the taxes almost double the GPU price.

Yeah, things suck here.

Well the DT's aren't bad cards, they just didn't pass EVGA's stress tests at high clocks, why they are sold as DT. (Reason for the lower clocks)

From what I have read they work just fine.

So would you pick the FTW2 DT instead of the SC one? Even with my poor PSU that can't handle OC that much?

Or would it be better wait for a factory OCed card then?

I would get the SC if I was you and a new better quality PSU.

Hmm it's a tough choice.. A higher clock against a better cooler + faster memory speed! If only I could get the non-DT version >.>

Guess I will have to wait a little more.

And the 11 GHz Bios Update (the DT version got it too). I just can't tell which one will bring more benefits to me (best cooler + memory speed against higher native clock).

I think I will go with the FTW2 anyways if I can't find anything better up to monday (it is the last day to fulfill the GPUs payment, I already reserved it).

Dunno, my FTW2 came out of the box with 11GBS memory, as it turned out there wasn't many of them that did come that way. (Even says it on the box.)

I heard about the upgrade though.
