How the hell did a Nvidia GTX 1050 work on my PC which has an old motherboard that doesnt support UEFI BIOS ?

So I recently just upgraded my graphics card on my prebuilt HP Compaq Elite 8100 CMT PC , from GTS 250 , I chose from a variety of cards. GTX 750, 660, 1050 and so on. I have done my research and I know that newer cards including the 1000 series require UEFI BIOS in order for the PC to boot. However, when I took it to the shop where I will be purchasing the cards, i asked them to install and i'll get whatever card works. I was so surprised when the PC booted with the ASUS Geforce GTX 1050 2GB , to be specific. So my question is, is this really possible? I am certain that my motherboard only supports Legacy BIOS. Well it is working for me and I am currently using the card now, but I am just curious. Would appreciate any response thanks

i was just so convinced that since the card is new, my motherboard with only Legacy would not let the pc boot. throughout my research i havent seen any post of success regarding the gtx 1050 and Legacy BIOS. so its really a shock . anyway im just so happy it worked ~

These cards can operate in what is called "legacy mode" this can sometimes make it work on actuall non compatible boards.
