I have loads of DVD backups dating back to 2005 and CD-R's dating back to 2000. Every 6 months to a year I get the time to go through them Theres at least 100 DVD-R's.. Well my problem is I have some DVD-R's that show up blank and ask if I want to burn to them as there "new" When they clearly are not.

First off, Its not the computer nor the CD drive. I've tested this on my main rig with 5 different CD/DVD drives (2 internal) (3 ext eternal) Also tested it with Various other computers I have including an old Windows XP laptop I use for old applications and they ALL do the same thing telling me its blank. Some of these discs are prestine while others are not but still I'd really like the data off these disks.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Not much you can do if they are not read, optical disks are OK but not perfect for longer term storage. There is quite a bit of stuff out there as far as stability of long term data backups. If you are testing them, that is good, but what is not good is not getting a few hard drives to keep the data on as well. A few 2 TB drives will get you duplicate backups of those backups.
