Hey guys, so I just got a brand new front case fan. The CM MasterFan Pro - Air Pressure and I just set it up in my fairly new PC and noticed a slight humming sound.

I took it out without turning off my PC, I thought maybe I tightened the screws a bit too much, however when I took it out it continued the slight humm....

It's kind of annoying when i'm using the computer and I don't want to take the fan back to the store
( I bought it online ).

Can somebody tell me what may be making the humming sound and if there is a way I can manually fix it? I really doubt it's just wind, although it sounds exactly like it's a bit windy outside and there are gusts of wind hitting a structure from time to time. - imagine it in small scale :D

jgustin7b ehh I have already calibrated my fans. They are running around ~700-800 RPM. When my front fan is working on higher RPM it doesn't make the humming sound. And yes. I built my PC.

jgustin7b it really doesn't bother me that much... Thank you for your time dude. I was just wondering what may be causing this. Did I get a defective fan? When I sqeeze it's top and bottom parts a little bit the humming stops as well.. Guess I wasn't lucky this time.

Robert Ban, yes it does. But as I mentioned the issue is with the fan itself. I took it out and it was still making that sound. Even though it was not attached to anything.

Did it come with any "silent" mode adapters? Sometimes you get some of those included.

In the BIOS do not let it automatically set the fan's speed for you. Do it manually for that fan. Turn off any target temperature options or such.
