My current cpu is Intel I5 4460 but I want to upgrade it.
I got the gtx1070 and my motherboard is Gigabyte GA-H81M-D2V,
what cpu do you recommend?

go to http://www.gigabyte.us/Motherboard/GA-H81M-D2V-rev-10#support-cpu to find all the CPUs supported by the motherboard.

Then your next stop is probably eBay to find a used CPU...https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l2632.R2.TR2.TRC1.A0.H0.XCore+i7-4790K.TRS0&_nkw=core+i7+4790k&_sacat=175673

which is where you're going to find out that it might be better to start over and build a new computer using modern bits and pieces...

The system information lists my bios version as "American Megatrends Inc. FB, 25/06/2014, does that means I will have to update it? if so how?

Unfortunately You already have a fairly good processor and the i7s will probably still be pricey even used.

Probably better to look for a new motherboard and Coffeelake processor when the H370s come out. AMD may be a good option too.

Looks like you already have the bios needed for 4th gen K processors.

Is there a lot that your current processor won't do that you want it to ? I note that it is still in the top rank in the Toms CPU hierarchy. Which means that upgrade even to the best newest processor may not improve your gaming performance that much.

Is it really not worth the upgrade from the I5 4660? I feel like I am not getting the most from the gtx 1070 and was sure it was because of the cpu. for example, in ac origins on the lowest settings the fps moves up and down from 60 to 30, isn't it because of the cpu? Other games that should work on high settings have low fps too

i7 will help to push your GTX1070 but first download MSI Afterburner to monitor CPU/GPU/RAM usage and temperature. Anyone of them runs at or near 100% is the one that bottleneck your system. This is for you to confirm it before upgrade.

So.. I just did a benchmark in game and damn my cpu was at 100% the whole time.
Is that the cause for the fps stuttering?
