Windows 10 forced it's latest update on me, it failed, and then wouldn't boot. I ran disk checks and repair which took a few hours and finally got back into my PC, except it wasn't getting my network through my ethernet switch. I'm in the "unidentified network, no internet access" boat.

This was strange because every other device on the switch is still connected (e.g. my PS4 is plugged into it and im able to use PlayStation Network) and if I just plug my PC directly into the modem/router (Motorola surfboard) it works.

I've tried turning everything off and resetting in order. I tried changing cables and ports. I tried updating and reinstalling my network drivers (first with Windows, then with that which came with my motherboard). I tried several commands I found while googling. It just doesn't make any sense to me.

I'd appreciate any suggestions.
The switch is a belkin s605

Solution
You likely have to reinstall the ethernet drivers for your motherboard. You then need to find the kinda hidden option that tells windows to not update any third party drivers
