Greetings to everyone on the Tom's Hardware.
I am a long time viewer and honestly, this is the first time that I'm writting in nearly 5 years.
My question, and problem, would be that I installed my new 960 evo M2 NVME SSD on PCI-E in my laptop (according to Speccy, Aida64 and other programs).
My laptop configuration is (HP PAVILION GAMING 15-bc099)
CPU Intel HQ 6300
GPU GTX 960M 4GB DDR5
RAM 8GB DDR4
MOBO HP 820D (U3E1) Skylake-H (PCH Southbridge model)
HDD Toshiba 1TB 7200 RPM
M.2 SSD NVMe SAMSUNG Evo 960 250 GB MZ-V6E250BW
Problem I have is that my new SSD 960 EVO only reaches speeds of 1600/1200 at most efficient rate, which isn't the advertised speed (should be around 3000/1600 at least). I used CrystalDisk and AS SSD Benchmark, both were roughly the same. I have over 100 GB free on SSD, so space is not the issue here. Roughly the speeds are as average as 1200/1000, which isn't really great, considering the price I've paid for this SSD.
Both of my partitions are GPT oriented and I have UEFI Boot option. Honorable mention could be that I previously ran MBR version of both drives and I converted them on GPT via EaseUS - so that I could use the UEFI mode.
Also, the speed was the same as booting via BIOS (LEGACY) mode while I still had the LEGACY mode. Right now I'm running UEFI only, no Legacy whatsoever.
Maybe this can help as well (PCI-Z program)
I also have Secure thingy from UEFI disabled (which is, by the way, grayed out as disabled, can't change it) along with disabled Legacy Mode.
My boot order is (UEFI):
SSD
OS Boot
HDD
CD / DVD (I don't use these nor do I have them, they're just there on the selection and they probably have to go as last ones)
I also tried using Samsung Magician, meddled with options there as well, updated the firmware through it and still, no success.
S.M.A.R.T scan previews both of my drives in good shape and I ran multiple tests with them just to make sure that my SSD or HDD aren't trashed.
I am sure that I'm connected on PCIE 3.0 x4, I'm only afraid that my MOBO can't support higher speeds (although I've read on official site of HP that it can go over 8GB/S if i'm correct)
A second problem I have is micro stutters with mouse on desktop. This happened after I installed SSD and ran it as a main drive. The stutters happens only when I use refresh, the rest is perfectly fine as far as I can tell.
I'm not sure if I enabled or disabled CSM, would that affect my speeds by any chance
IF YOU NEED ANYTHING SCREENSHOTED, PLEASE DO LET ME KNOW. I'M TRYING VERY HARD TO FIND THE CAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM AND YOU WOULD GREATLY HELP ME WITH FIXING IT
EDIT: UPDATED BIOS, NOW RUNS AROUND 2200/1600. Hopefully I can squeeze out more to hit 3k
