Hello mazboy, thanks for yr reply.

No, it's not Windows 10.

Plus, the sony vaio dvds set has all the sony's drivers, sony's setting ( i know some says's it's sony's shXt, but for someone like me, i really like those)...

Thanks

Far out!!! I just sold my more-than-10-year-old Sony VAIO and I miss it already. It was Win7 Pro, though I finally broke down and did the free upgrade to Win10 (you can to: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/accessibility/windows10upgrade).

I'm sorry, I got off track there. Go here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows7 and enter your win7 license key (it should be on a sticker on the bottom of your laptop, or possibly in the battery compartment). This will let you download the win7 .iso file. You will need to use rufus.exe (http://rufus.akeo.ie/) to get it onto a USB drive (it's not that hard, just google "using rufus.exe to make a bootable USB drive" wait...I did it for you: http://www.techfleece.com/2015/07/08/how-to-create-a-bootable-windows-usb-drive-using-rufus/).

Plug your newly made USB Win7 boot drive into the laptop and boot it up. If all is good (I'm referring to your hardware) you should have no problem getting the OS loaded and your laptop going. At this point you should be happy, but I'd go ahead and do the upgrade to Win10

BTW, don't worry about all that "driver" stuff on the DVDs. Most of it is useless, and the Win7 install should have all the necessary drivers built in. Worst case, you might have to go to the net to find a specific driver (though I never did)

Ah...except for the part where Sony don't make no stinking laptops anymore because of https://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/News/Press/201402/14-019E/index.html. Basically, there has been no real support since 2014. I went through this with Sony/Microsoft 2 years ago. Microsoft said that Sony was responsible, Sony sent me to whoever it is that ended up with the business, who basically shrugged their shoulders at me. What eventually happened was that Microsoft relented and sent me to an internal site where they allowed me to download the Win7 .iso. I still have it (you better believe it). This is probably what's going to happen to you, so be prepared. At least Microsoft has customer support online chat now, so it should be easier.

And I will repeat: the stuff on those DVDs is, for the most part, garbage, and now terribly outdated garbage at that. Your laptop deserves better than that.

@mazboy & @USAFRet:

Thanks for yr reply. Both of you are correct, that's exactly what i am facing.

But without original sony drivers and software, my web-cam will not work, Blu ray player will not work, and Windows unable to detect Nvidia graphics card, in device manager/ display adapter, it showed only general standard adapter. While i was trying to get some drivers from sony's support site, those were "drivers update that came after",...not original...and then....windows stuck at booting....Awwwww....

That's why I am trying to find a way to load the content from dvds....

Any other suggestions?

hmmm...Windows shouldn't have stuck at booting. You're using the Win7 usb drive you made from the above info? or doing something else. Frankly, if all else fails, I'd try to load Win10 (using this: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10). This does not require a license key, and if you can get the laptop booted up and running, you can then downgrade back to Win7, using your original install cd/dvds...

oh, one other thing. It is unlikely that you will be able to copy the files successfully from the DVDs to some other media because of file formatting issues (and Sony did this on purpose...the buggers). It's worth a try if you can find someone with a dvd drive and a usb port, but don't hold your breath.
