I got a new i7 7700k processor and I put it in and it didn’t work but the power light was on and so we’re the fans. However when i put my old one back in, it worked just fine. Now I updated my bios and reset cmos and now I’m just wondering could it be that I don’t have a good enough power supply or what

Power supply max voltage-483W
Old processor-i5 6400
Graphics-gtx 970
Motherboard-Asus H110-I\G11CD/DP_MB
If you need anymore info please ask

This link goes to Asus G11CD Bios but it don't show any link to any CPU support at all. This is very strange.
https://www.asus.com/us/Tower-PCs/G11CD/HelpDesk_BIOS/

This link is about 2 months old about 7700K with same mobo. Someone here mention "I've searched all over the place and whenever I include the BIOS revision in the search people were looking to do the same thing as you and the only thing that ever comes back is that it's "6th gen only" and there is "no BIOS support" which I find odd to say the least. "

That is all I can find. If the link above is true then your mobo does not support 7th gen CPU.

Not sure reason you want i7 7700K. Your current system i5 and GTX970 may be very balance at this moment. Download MSI afterburner or use task manager to monitor usage of CPU/GPU/RAM to see if any of them run at or near 100% consistently. Any at 100% means it bottleneck the overall system. If your mobo can not over clock, it is cheaper to get non-K CPU.

Regard to your i7 7700K, I guess you should try download latest or as close to it as possible to see if 7700K will work. If your i7 7700K not work out with your current mobo, then you may just want to return it rather than get another mobo to work with 7700K. Reason is you may want to get 8th gen CPU which requires Z370 mobo at this moment. i7 8700K has 6 cores and 12 threads. i7 7700K has 4c/8t. i5 8th gen has straight 6 cores.
