I've upgraded my processor to Xeon X5470 on LGA 775 using Asus P5G41T-MLX. I use FPS Aurum 80+ gold 650 Watt and nVidia GTX 550Ti. Previously I'm using Quad Core Q8400 and try to use Xeon X5740.

The question is about my cpu temperature. On BIOS I saw the CPU temperature on 69 Degree Celsius (156.2 F). Using HW Monitor, My Core 0 Temperature was 156F, Core 1 143F, Core 2 144F, and Core 3 141F.

Please see this image for further detail

I've use thermal paste over the processor and using Heat Sink From Intel Quad Core Q8400 that having some cooper layer at the bottom.

Is it the temperature safe for me? What is the safe range temperature for Xeon X5470?

Thanks

agung.imannuel,

Here's the operating range for Core temperature:

Core temperatures above 85°C aren't recommended.

Core temperatures increase and decrease with Ambient temperature.

Idle temperatures below 25°C are generally due to Ambient temperatures below 22°C.

The OP asking about safe temperature for Xeon X5470

Those temps are fine; the CPU will throttle if it reaches 212 degrees F.
