I have seen this question asked a lot but havent found what i am looking for.

I have previously asked on the forum for a low end gpu and actually chose the GT1030, i dont care if it bottlenecks a bit but i'm pretty sure that with my current gpu it would be held back way too much

I wanted to get a modded Xeon E5450 because a lot of people overclock it easily at stable 4.0
( My current one is a Pentium dual core E6600)

But doing some research on how to oc ( already had an idea how but on newer MOBOs) i gave up and opened my BIOS to have a look around, it's a super simple bios with no overclock options.

So my question is which is the best LGA775 cpu without overclocking it?
I know the only value of these cpu s is when you overclock them but on my prebuilt i'm pretty sure there is no way of doing so.

My mobo is a pegatron something from an HP prebuilt ( Hp pavilion p6511it if it helps)

Thanks to anyone helping me out and sorry for any grammar/spelling mistakes

I presumed so because you have a Wolfdale Pentium E6600. A Q9600 or a Q9650 would improve performence of multi-threaded applications quite a bit.

Lga775 is the pin count on the cpu, that's the socket. Unfortunately, it was widely used for several different families of cpus and had different chipsets. That's what's needed as well. If it's a 915 chipset you'll be limited to PentiumD/Pentium 4 dual core cpus, if it's a 965 you can use the quad core q6600/6700 etc. So without the exact model number of the board it's impossible to say what cpu can be supported as 'best' only that it'll support the E6600, which is any of the lga775 boards.

All right so i didnt know the difference between chipset and socket so I thought it was the same thing, as for the chipset i did a bit of research and found " Intel G43 Express chipset " ( hope this is right lol )

We still need to know what motherboard is installed. You can use CPU-Z, Motherboard tab or preferably check what's written on it. Pegatron manufacture a lot of motherboards models for HP; that's why we need to know which one you have. There is very little info about your system; only that it was released with an E6600 CPU.

It's worth looking into the BSEL Mod(Tape mod) to overclock your CPU if your motherboard does not have OC option.
However, your motherboard supports up to 333/1333fsb so I'd say Q6700(can be overclocked to 3.33GHZ using the Tape mod) is the best CPU for this mod on you MB. Any processor that's already at 333/1333fsb will not work on your MB since they require 400/1600fsb support.
