Would a hp Proliant dL 360 g6 with 32gb ddr3 ecc Ram and dual quad cores be good for game server hosting?? I saw similar configurations being offered for rental online but I’d rather OWN it cause I can build it and upgrade it as I please and pay once as opposed to $50-$150 a month to get a similar configuration I’ll be stuck with unless and IF there’s an option to pay up the wazoo for ram and cpu upgrades

Good to know but that’s not exactly the question I’m asking here. I’m speaking about hardware. I’m not doing a very massive operation here. And it’s a dL 360 g6 not a 380 by the way. Is dual quad cores and 36gb enough? The unit supports 5 VMware machines tops (I’ll have about 3) dual e5645 hexacores and about 144gb Ram ddr3 ecc

DL360s are even LOUDER because they have smaller fans. I can't speak to game hosting because I am not a gamer. But I do work with 1U and 2U servers and I would never have one in a household environment unless I had a dedicated place to put it away from people. 1U servers are not pleasant to be around.
