Hello everyone,

I've had an i7 4770k since its launch in 2013 and have kept the clock speeds at stock. I have attempted to overclock it a couple of times, but it would never boot up completely which meant I wasn't applying something right; that, or I just had really bad luck with my cpu. I even tried to get my clock speeds to a modest 4.2GHz, but that still didn't work. I think I tried to set the voltage to 1.2 when I did that. Any ideas on what I should do? Is my h80i liquid cooler not good enough for that? I figured it should be. What settings should I apply with my ASUS MAXIMUS VI motherboard bios in order to maybe try to achieve 4.4 or 4.5 GHz?

Depends on what your chip can do as all chips are different. 4Ghz should be doable with 1.20v. It may take as much as 1.25+ for 4.4-4.5GHz. Just play around with it a bit and make marginal increases. Monitor your temps while doing so obviously.
