Low GPU Usage in GTA V

I seem to get around 80 fps no matter what settings i use and the gpu usage just goes down when i turn settings down.
PC Specs : Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.8 Ghz, 980 ti, 8gb 2400mhz

you are never going to reach 100% usage on games that dont use all your cores


windows has a feature that makes it appear all cores are used but that is not the case


if a game only use 2 cores, windows can move around 2 cores worth of work to as many as you have to make sure temps stay in check

One other thing about the memory. Ryzen gets a small performance boost with faster kits - 3000mhz or higher. It isn't necessary, but the option is still there.

Well that makes sense that the usage goes down as the settings are lowered, if your getting 80 FPS no matter what the settings are then what's the issue?

sounds like classic cpu bottlenecking

if you lower or up the settings and fps do not change, then cpu limit has been reached

which makes sense as gta5 is cpu bound

I have a 144hz monitor so whilst it is obviously very playable i want to get as many frames as I can to achieve 144fps

It has very low usage on cpu as well though

it will never actually use all the performance available from all cores unless the game itself is actually capable of it
