Can I UC an OC GPU?

I've just bought a GTX 1080 Turbo OC and upon glancing at some reviews on some other websites I saw that some people mentioned that the OC card gets pretty hot (80 degrees c) when under about 75% load. When the card arrives, would underclocking the card back to the 1080 stock clocks prevent this heat build up? Is this something i should be doing or will it damage the card in some way? Any advice would be appreciated.
P.S. I bought the OC card as it was £50 cheaper than the normal, non-OC card. I'm not really bothered about having it OC.

If you can programmatically lower the clock speeds and the voltages then it will produce less heat. It should not damage the card. Will it make a difference in your situation, it depends.
If there's nothing wrong with the card or the heat dissipation scheme it should run cooler, yes.
