cant decide which upgrade path to choose

i have a ryzen 5 1600x upgrade path: https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/6Jm8RG
and a i5 8600k upgrade path: https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/3Kfs6X
i need you guys to help me decide which one to choose, i currently have a i5 4590 with 1333mhz of corsair vengeance ddr3 memory and a gtx 980, the psu is 80+ gold 750 watts so no problems there. help appreciated, dont mind the monitor, this is a gaming build btw. theyre about the same price, aesthetics dont mean much to me.

I would pick the i5 then. Unless you are streaming AND gaming, in which case...

If for gaming I would go with the 8600k. If for gaming and streaming, the 8600k is still good, but Ryzen 7 is bit better and Ryzen 5 1600X as well. Both are good systems and will serve you well. Go for whichever is cheaper I would say, as the difference would be about 5 to 15 FPS maximum if I recall correctly.

they both have the same monitor and headset, irrelevant i know but they end up being only 10 bucks different so it doesnt really matter, i have seen that the ryzen 5 1600x has something like 16mb of L3 cache and the i5 8600k has 9mb of L3 cache, also it is strictly between the i5 and the ryzen 5, the ryzen 7 was about 200 aud more expensive
