I've been using the same PC for a few years now, and I can't figure out why it's starting to stutter so much. At first I thought that it was an issue with the games I was playing but I came to notice that I couldn't really find anyone with similar problems on some of them. I thought it might be because my hard drive was getting pretty full so I cleared space, but I'm sitting at 148/223GB on my local disk and 1.065/1.81TB on my external.

Essentially the game just stutters randomly. It'll randomly freeze for a few seconds any time something that might be extensive is happening. I thought it could be the temperature of the components (they're all regularly between 40-50 degrees Celsius) so I am planning on using an air compressor and cleaning the dust out of the system later. Could something else be causing this? I've noticed chrome eats CPU like mad but the problem is persistent even without it.

I apologize if I seem at all inept with my tech or misdiagnose anything, my brothers more the hardware guy. I'm more interested in software (want to go to school for it once college is a viable option for me.)

Thanks!

First download CrystalDiskInfo and post here images of both HDD's.
Then i would defrag your HDD https://www.auslogics.com/en/software/disk-defrag/download/
Third i would download HwInfo and check temperatures (sensor when you first launch) and after playing game for a bit post the results (you can press <-> to widen the window for better screenshot of it).

I would buy new HDD cause that may fail sooner or later. Just in future try to add intake fan to keep lower temperatures in case (that is second factor that can cause HDD failure).
Does it still have warranty or?
Download Hard Disk sentinel and run quick test or extended test (under Disk tab) over night or how you may like.

Couldn't retrieve any data, it's dead.
Here's the one I had: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136891

Can you suggest anything that'd replace it and is less than $100 CAD?

Oh s$$$, im sorry about that :( i hope you didn't have any important data there. Well any HDD can fail, but in your case maybe the temperature killed it, but still you never know.

Well from my perspective WD blue or hitachi 2TB version if you can find.

Does HDD still spin or?

No clue, the thing mostly works it's just got some messed up sectors. Do you think there's any way to lower my systems temperature? I already have liquid cooling in it, four seperate fans, and 2 fans on the graphics card. It's still going high though.
