Got a new ROG laptop (i7 7700HQ)- what are safe temps for full load?

Hi guys, just got a new laptop to replace my trusty 5 year old one that finally has gotten too slow for modern games and apps that I use... my new one has an i7 7700HQ and the GTX 1060 in it (6GB).

I know it's a laptop and as such I should be expecting higher temps than what I'm used to on my desktop, but is 91c too hot for a 7700HQ under full load?

Using MSI afterburner to monitor the temps, none of the cores went over 91c. GPU maxed out at 79c.

Should I undervolt it? Seen lots of people talking about it online, not sure whether I should bother or not if the temps I'm getting are within normal range for this model (GL503V-GZ159T). It's under a 3 year warranty so I'll keep using it with "out of the box" settings while I wait for answers.

Also, does anyone know if undervolting voids Asus's warranty at all?

Thanks all!

Not to worry.

A Intel processor will throttle or shut off to prevent damage if it detects a dangerous temperature.
That is around 100c.

91c. seems a bit hot.
Are you certain that there is no blockage to the cpu cooling intake or exhaust vents?
Can you increase the rpm of the cooling fan?

It might be possible to reseat the cpu cooler and use a top thermal paste to drop a few degrees.
I don't think I would bother unless you experience thermal slow downs.

If you want to test, you can lower the maximum performance of the processor from 100% to perhaps 90% in windows power profile setting.

Yes 100% no blockage. I use it on a flat and hard surface with plenty of breathing room around it. I set the fan RPM to maximum- makes a hell of a noise but definitely not unbearable.

I would rather not have to take it apart, that might void the warranty if I replace the thermal paste.

I will have a crack at lowering the max perf, but FYI I haven't noticed any throttling yet. CPU has been sitting at a stable 3.5-3.6 ghz even at 85c up to the occasional 90c spike when playing Rocket League (was playing at 120fps so the laptop was working hard enough to push the temps up high).

Would it be safe to assume that this is normal and I should stop worrying about cooking something?
