new mobo/CPU/ram no display.

Just bought a new mobo, cpu, and ram to go with the new mobo connected everything, everything turns on, gpu fans spin, but I can't get a signal to my screen, tried clearing CMOS, tried another compatible gpu I have same issue, pretty much stuck between going to a shop to see if they can figure out the issue but thought why not ask here first

Mobo - x299 killer sl-I/ac
CPU - i7 7740x
Ram - 8gb ddr4
Gpu - windforce r9 270x 2gb.

Everything should be compatible ive done lots of research and planned this build 2 months in advance before I bought anything, so any help is greatly appreciated.

Is the RAM pressed down all the way, at both ends of the memory slots?

i have one 8gig ram stick located in the ddr4_c1 slot which is what the installation guide told me to place if i only have 1 stick

The slots are listed in order as they are on the mobo - |b1|, |b2|, |a1|, |a2| [space for cpu] |c2|, |c1|, |d2|, |d1|
if it helps i can post pics of build what slots are being used and a diagram of what each slot is

i did just notice that my older gpu fans start up instantly, but the "newer" gpu i have fans start about a second or 2 after everything else starts up dont know if that really matters that much but just putting it out there.

Yes i made sure its supported, everything was double checked and then triple checked.

I have it connecting through an hdmi cord so i can have sound without a headset/speakers connected to the computer, its not a monitor its a plasma flatscreen tv that i've been using.

As a test have you tried moving the video card to the 2nd x16 slot?

I don't know what else to suggest. What you describe sounds to me like a problem with the RAM, but since you have only 1 stick instead of 2, there is no way to test if that 1 stick is bad.

ive tried every slot, the installation guide tells me to only put it in the pcie 1 unless im SLI bridging gpus. but i will try real quick.
pcie1 slot didnt work pcie 2 slot didn't work pcie3 slot didn't work pcie 4 slot obviously wont fit my gpu, and pcie 5 slot is unaccesable due to battery/motherboard getting in the way :\

So far from what ive gather from searching google over and over with different keywords I think the issue could be that the processor isn't pressed down hard enough, or that the bios needs to be update and the old current drivers need to be removed, i did switch from amd to intel so that could make sense, I appreciate all the suggestions, once i figure out the true problem i will come back here to make sure, in the mean time if you have ANY other suggestions on what it could be im all ears.

have you tried using on-board graphic first?

*nvm it, just do some search, seems 7740X doesn't have any on-board graphic

When you say "the old current drivers need to be removed, i did switch from amd to intel", do you mean you had an AMD PC and you swapped the boot drive from that PC to this new build?

POST stands for Power on Self Test. It's self-diagnostics built into every mobo. When you power on the mobo it quieres the RAM, video card, CPU, etc to make sure everything is ok. It everything checks out it will sound one beep*, then start the boot process. If the mobo won't post there's something not right. Do a process of elimination, i.e. take out the video card (if there is one), take out all RAM sticks except for one and try booting again. If it doesn't POST make sure the RAM stick is well seated. Reseat the video card. If that doesn't work it could be the CPU isn't properly seated.

*Some mobos don't have an internal speaker and you won't hear the beep. It should come with a small speaker that attaches to the mobo.

i had a amd cpu before with my old mobo but ordered a new cpu with a new motherboard, im still using the same harddrive from my last mobo/cpu i was using so i have all amd drivers on the harddrive someone had a similar issue with their gpu and switched from amd as well to intel and said they had to remove all of the drivers that were for his old setup so ill have to try that.

okay, well i do have the speaker and it isn't plugged in although ive never heard it make a noise with my old build

after plugging the speaker in and trying it made a noise, i looked at everything thoroughly again took the ram card out, put it in, noticed it wasn't clipping in all the way and had to press really fking hard but thanks it finally turned on so i guess it really was the ram after all.
