So i got a foxconn g41mxe motherboard and core2quad q8300 with 6gb ram and a gtx 1050, i really want to upgrade my cpu and motherboard but for now i only have the $ to upgrade my cpu, so if i buy a PENTIUM G4600 or g4560 or an i3 3120 can my mobo support either one of these cpu's?

Solution
no, the motherboard does not support the newer gen chips. it is an lg775 socket and supports only those chips.

here is the list of compatible cpu's with the mobo

save the money for now and buy when you have enough for the mobo, cpu and new ram. your mobo uses ddr3 ram and not the were ddr4 ram used by the newest chips. so you'll need new ram as well.

good news is with an i3/pentium you really don't need an expensive mobo nor ram. so for about $100 you can get the new mobo and ram.
