Hello,

I have some old files that I want to recover from an old 4GB Maxtor HDD.
3 years ago I connected it through USB adapter to laptop, it was spinning up when connected to power but couldn't access the files in any way.
I gave up then and put the HDD back in storage.
These days I found it and I wanted to try again to access it and when I connect it to power it won't give any signs of life. It doesn't spin at all, nothing...

Is it possible to 'die' just staying somewhere deposited? The adapter is working perfectly, so no problem with it. The HDD is dead and I don't know what to do. I can't afford sending it to professional recovery -_-.

Any idea, please? What could have happened to it?

At first, it was inside the old PC stored for years in the attic. 3 years ago I got it out, bought a USB adapter and tried to recover the files.
Windows recognized it but I couldn't access it. Can't remember exactly what was the problem. I tried a few days and after that I gave up, put the HDD in a plastic bag and then in a box, stored on the top of the wardrobe in my room.

Now, after 3 years, I wanted to try again to see if I could access it but when I connect it to power it doesn't even spin.

This is the hard-drive: https://imgur.com/a/zJD62

Nobody? :(
I've read tutorials about changing the controller board, but sadly I don't have another one like this, shaking the HDD, even putting it inside the freezer. Well, I don't think I want to try the last one.
