Ghraphics card prices going up

is it just me or are the prices of both Nivida and AMD graphics cards going up a lot. I remember when you could get a GTX 1080 for 650$ Canadian, but now there all sold out or over 800$. also the 1060s and 1070s have gone up as well. I guess the AMD graphics cards have always been expensive but the rx 580 has gone up a lot.

Is this just me embarrassing myself or is anyone else noticing this?

Really the miners caused the prices to go up by that much. What are they buying like 4 for each computer or is there just a lot of miners? well whatever it is I don't care because all I need to worry abou tis not buying any graphics cards for a long time.

Ive been watching the 1080s daily for the last 1.5 months - they disappeared overnight and prices went up. They went up a smidge as soon as 2018 ticked around but as of this morning, good luck finding one for close to reasonable if you haven't picked one up yet (I have not lol)

4? small rigs are six cards, larger operations buy cards by the pallet. Between that and high priced memory chips we're totally screwed.

And yet I still see the fanboys calling for the death of AMD so there's even less choice than what we have now. Crazy times.

the problem is not about people that mining as a side hobby but some company that being made specifically for mining purpose. these guys buys thousands of GPU. even going as far secure their card directly from factory (from china) buying all the card the factory can pump out and send them over their mining farm over the night using plane so they can set the card for mining ASAP.
