Low frames on all games

Guys I'm getting pretty inconvenient issue. I used to get 40-50 fps on rainbow six siege on 720p med settings and now suddenly i'm getting 20fps. This started to happen when my laptop went below 10%. After charging up and charger plugged in I'm getting 20fps. It happened before when my laptop went below 10% and all of sudden i started to get 20fps. The fall creators somehow fixed the issue, idk how but probably reset my clock speed or something? i couldn't find any solution online
things i have tried
-> reinstalled my gpu drivers with clean install
-> reset my pc
-> prefer maximum performance plus phyX to GPU
the only option left is to reinstall windows completely.
edit: forgot to mention specs
-> i5 5th gen, gtx 940m, win 10

what kind of graphics card do u have? low graphics cards cant really hold good fps good graphics cards can run games with good fps graphics cards control the fps and the graphics (obviously)

also heat couldve messed it up a bit or a software problem had occured

gtx 940m seems good enough to handle rainbow at 40-60 fps. I've been playing the game for more than 6 months. It just happened when my battery went below 10%. somehow i feel window 10 underclocked the gpu. Also it's not heat issue. MSI afterburner shows 45c when I'm running(with 20 fps lol). When this happened before, I thought it was heat issue but then the fall creator update fixed it.

its ok im new to tomshardware too i recently got into pc building, it sounds like a software issue cause i had this problem before where if it was on a low battery it would act weird

sadly i recomend restarting windows 10 fresh start or if ur laptop has a detachable battery to get a new a battery. also try changing around with your settings use optimized nvidia graphics card choices (recomendations for your graphics card) which i use instead of using custom settings
