Hey I currently have an i5 3470 and a gtx 1080 aorus extreme edition, 1440p and 165hz monitor.

In some of the heaviest games fps drops below 60 some of the times .. in battlefield 1 and GTA V and some other games. I have the option to get an i7 2600k for a really really cheap price and oc it to 4.5Ghz (maybe) but will that be enough to get some fps boost to 100..? At least .. if not I guess I need to uprade the mobo , memory ans everything.. so will that tiny upgrade with OC be a good boost? Or not?

Thanks.

That completely depends on what it is causing your FPS drops. However you likely won't see much of a performance improvement from that jump.

- Check your component temperatures, thermal throttling can reduce FPS
- Check your CPU (each individual core) and GPU usage when the FPS drops occur and see if there is actually a bottleneck
- Ensure all the latest drivers are installed (especially for your GPU)
- Run malware/anti-virus scans to ensure your PC is clean
- Perform disk cleanups and defragmentation to ensure your storage space is optimised
- Check your internet usage and ensure that online internet bandwidth isn't limiting your play
