My motherboard has limited SATA slots. I am looking at buying a SATA expansion card to increase the number..

My application is just JBOD for files storage and bit torrenting with basic hard drives. I don't expect to run any programs on them.

Should I go for the cheaper SATA 2 or the SATA 3 is worth when dealing with bit torrenting?

doesn't really matter to be honest, normally SATA 3 can take best advantage of the caching on disks by allowing the higher throughput, but for JBOD, that's really not what you get anyhow. So it just won't matter all that much.
