None of these seem to fit any issue I have, I have plugged my BT router back in for the time being.

Is your router connected to the ISP modem? How is your ISP setup over there?

If you place a router behind an ISP Modem. You may need to call the ISP to put the modem into bridge mode. You could be running into double nat issues since normally ISP provided modems also does routing and then you introduced a router... which routes. That is what double nat is and causes all sorts of problems.

Have they locked the connection to the MAC address of their equipment? Have a look on their router for its MAC address for the WAN interface, I believe you can clone that onto you new router so that the ISP believes their equipment is still attached. Failing that call the ISP.

I am using a direct phone line to the router.
