PC won't turn on when GPU PCI-e cords are plugged in.

I was playing a game on my PC and my PC randomly shut off as if my PC unplugged or my power went out. I tried turning on my PC and was frightened when it would not turn on. I tried unplugging it at first and then plugging it back in and still nothing happened that I could see. I opened up my PC and took out the GPU because I just wanted to see maybe it could for some reason run when the GPU isn't it. To my surprise the PC did turn on when the GPU was not connected to the PC. After a bit more testing with the GPU I realized I could have the GPU in the PC but if the PCI-e cords were to be plugged into the GPU my PC would instantly shut off. It almost seemed like my power supply was not strong enough to support the GPU but this didn't make much sense to me since I've been using this PC with these parts for the past 2 years. Another note I thought I should add is that when the PCI-e cords are plugged in and I attempt to turn on my PC an led light on one of the fans turns on for like .2 seconds and then shuts off and if I try to hit the power button again nothing happens. If I unplug the PC and plug it back in the same thing happens with the led light. My specs are below.

CPU - i7 4790k 4GHz

GPU - GTX 980 TI

RAM - Ripjaws 4 Series 32GB (4 x 8GB)

Hard Drive - 1TB Toshiba 7200rpm 64MB

Power Supply - Corsair CX 850m

Mother Board - I'm not totally sure, but it's something krait or krail edition? If it's important and one of you need it to maybe solve this problem I can give you the exact name of mine.

I know this is long but I stream/youtube so it's very important, if you have any questions for me please ask away I will try and be as active on this post as I can.

Thank you for reading.

Solution
Probably SC protection on PSU failed and the short in GPU caused fire. Use your other PSU and try machine without GPU to check is other components are not affected. For now I would not trust your CXm PSU, it needs at least multimeter check to see if it works. GPU is probably gone for good if it has visible burn marks.

Seems like GPU is gone. One question though - I hope you did not mix cables with PSU? Each PSU works only with its own cables, using cables from other model is usually bad idea. But if you didn't mix the cables, then it was the short inside of GPU.
