Hard lags with i7 7700k and GeForce GTX 970 on MSI Z170A M7 mobo

Hi! I have an MSI Z170A M7 mobo LGA1151 and I just bought an intel i7 7700k. I flashed the BIOS and all that seems successful, and the i7 works but I'm getting hard lags. I'm running a GeForce GTX 970. Do I have a compatible issue here?

No compatibility issues. Did you try doing a clean install of your GPU drivers?

What games are you playing? low CPU usage at idle? Temps in check?

Well it actually just started working fine again this morning. I installed new drivers for the GPU last night but it didn't do anything immediately. CPU is low at idle, temps are between 45-65 usually sometimes up to 75. While it works now, last night when I played graphically intensive games like PUBG or Overwatch it would freeze up for 5-10 seconds constantly. League of Legends or other low end games worked fine.
