cpu upgrade advise

I have a Emachine ET 1352G-03W with a AMD ATHLON II X2 260u DUAL CORE Processor, What can I upgrade to, Really wanting a quad core.. I have no idea what mother board it has...

First, to be totally certain we should get the system information. You can just run either one of these free programs to get your system information. HWinfo64 is more complete, CPU-Z is easier to understand.

Also, open up your case and look at your Power Supply Unit (PSU), there should be a label on it that states the wattage. If you are unsure, just take a picture and post it. I am particularly interested in the the number of amperes (A) on the +12V circuit (rail). I suspect that it will be a budget 300W.

The AMD ATHLON II X2 260u is an AM3 socket CPU with a 25w power requirement (TDP).

This is an issue as it is very hard to find CPU's with wattages this low. To get a faster CPU you would have to up the CPU wattage and I don't know if your mobo, PSU or cooling can handle it. If you want to proceed then you will need to provide the info I asked for. But even after that it still may not be worth it and it may not be possible due to BIOS incompatibility. Don't know.
