Hey, I dont have the slightest clue when it comes to a gaming computer but I recently brought one here are the specs

Athlon X4 880K 4.0GHZ (4.2 GHZ turbo) quad core GPU

GTX 1060 6GB

TX3 Evo Tower Cooler

Gigabyte F2A78M-HD2 Motherboard

8GB RAM (will upgrade to 16)

Aerocool 600W power supply

Is the specs fine to run the most recent games?

Thank you.

you could run newer games, but your Frame rate will not be consistent (you'll be experiencing low frame rates/choppy gameplay on many AAA titles). That CPU is quite weak and you will get a lot of frame drops here and there. I would say.. it depends where you live that is... don't invest anything in this system. If you enjoy gaming, you'll soon be swapping out that CPU (with which comes motherboard+ram). The graphics card is great though... Best to check youtube gameplay preview for any game you wish to buy (people record how a game plays on certain CPU/GPU and post it. GPU doesn't always have to match yours, just needs to be around same strength to get an idea)

how much did you pay?

I have a 750ti and a Intel Q6600 2.4GHz and 8 GB of ram and I run GTA V 45-60 FPS 1920x1080 very high settings average so your build should be able to confidentally run newer titles on very high settings.

It's generally a better idea to ask before you purchase.

The CPU is slow. It is likely to limit your framerate to 30 - 50 FPS in modern AAA games, or atleast in parts of it (looking at 1% lows and 0.1% lows). This review shows the 880k's performance in 6 intensive games, displaying the CPUs 1% lows, 0.1% lows and averages. For pairing with a GTX 1060, I would've suggested a better CPU.

The GTX 1060 can perform 60FPS on most games on atleast high settings. Though this framerate, this could be limited by your CPU at parts of the game.

The platform is a dead end. No worthwhile upgrades from there with the CPU, unless you change the motherboard aswell.

PSU is likely very low end. You may run into PSU related issues (that are hard to troubleshoot), like random crashes, BSODs, etc. It may not have the necessary protections so if your PSU dies, it could take out the rest of the parts. And due to low quality, it would shorten the lifespan of the PSU itself and the rest of the parts comparing to a better quality PSU. You may not be able to upgrade GPU aswell.
What is the PSU's model number?

return it, not enough cpu power to run a 1060

any newer game is going to have very poor fps

you want either a ryzen quad core or i3 8100 minimum

do you recommend any upgrades I could get in the future?

I think since you bought it, use it for now.

as far as upgrades, there is no simple way to say this, but you will need a CPU+MOTHERBOARD+RAM. The graphics card that is in this system is pretty good, by today's standards, but the rest of it is (i'm sorry), crap. Even the Power Supply is quite low on the "reliability" scale (you may also want to upgrade this later). But, the bit of good news is that, there are always new CPUs coming out, and Good power supplies can run you as low as 35-50euros. I would suggest not to put anything else into this system for now (such as RAM that you spoke about in the initial post, because that would be DDR3, which is useless for future upgrades, 8gb will get you by for now).

if it were "today", my suggestion would be AMD-Ryzen 1600 + 60-90euro motherboard (with overclocking)+2x8gb ram. But by the time you're ready, i'm sure there will be different choices.
