Hello,
My USB drives broke up after connected USB desktop case cable to the motherboard ASRock 960GC- GS FX. The PC case is old, may be from 2004 and i connected USB cables from front case panel to internal motherboard USB connector inside the case. After that i plugged one USB bootable flash drive and the USB spoiled after that and never appear any more. After that i tried with other USB bootable flash drive and the same problem.
Yes, may be i set up the cables incorrectly the first time. But the tension there is so weak!
May i repair somehow the damaged USB drives? They do not appear any more even in BIOS on 3 other computers.

Solution
Better USB thumb drives *SHOULD* have fuses on their PCB's that can be replaced. But unless you have microsoldering tools and experience with electronics then no you're not going to be able to fix them. Usually a short from a bad port also blows the capacitors on the USB drive.

Well, then is good to be known that USB can burn out if you mistake the place even of one pin, connecting the USB desktop case to the internal USB motherboard connector. Very bad for me as i spend time and money for these bootable USB drives.
