Upgraded laptop ram, but should I remove the old chips?

I have an MSI dominator dragon 1886 model, based off of the gt70 I believe. My laptop has 4 ram slots. Recently, I had some issues with blue screening, so I ran memtest. It came back with about a 1000 errors so I bought a new set of 2 x 4 GB ram. They've been installed, but the other two chips are a lot more difficult to get to, so I've kept them in there for now. My question is, is there a way to disable those ram chips without removing them? And is it even necessary? Seems to me like the blue screens may continue if I leave the bad ram in.

Thanks in advance!
