Im working on fixing a computer for my friend and have run into some issues. Initial testing proved to me that the motherboard was bad, and so I replaced it with a new one of the same make and model from Ebay.

The board is an Asus P8H61-M LE/CSM. I've got Windows 10 64 bit installed and everything seems to be working well... until I plug in the GPU, in this case, an NVIDIA GT 710 PCI card. When installed, there is a roughly 10% chance that the computer will actually start at all. I've installed all available windows updates as well as the latest NVIDIA updates, but its very rare that the system will even load past the Win 10 logo.

On the rare chance that it DOES load, I'm able to run the machine without issue most of the time, but once in a while it will bluescreen with any number of different errors listed.

I've discovered thru google that the most common response is to update the board BIOS, but everything that I've tried results in some kind of error in the Asus EZ-Flash 2 utility, usually something like "Image integrity check failed" or "Invalid file"... or sometimes the file simply doesnt show up at all...

I've read about some boards requiring the BIOS files to be in a special .CAP format, and I've tried with .CAP and .ROM files, with no success..

System specs are below:
Win 10 Home 64-bit
Intel Core i5 3330
ASUS P8H61-M LE/CSM board running American Megatrends Inc BIOS version 9940 Dated 05/10/2012
8 GB DDR3 RAM, Dual channel
GPU: NVIDIA GT 710, 2 GB

The previous computer was running all these components with a 300W power supply. I've upgraded it with a new power supply that I had lying around rated at 550W, so I doubt that power is the issue.

As stated, all available NVIDIA drivers are installed, as well as ALL Windows updates and updated Intel Chipset and Management Engine drivers.

Has anyone had this experience before, and if so, what can I do without having to go out and buy a different board?

Solution
It might be that the board was part of a prebuilt system, and, in this case, the BIOS files posted on the ASUS motherboard webpage do not help.
You can order a BIOS chip on ebay and replace the board's one.
Try also the BUpdater utility.

This was it. I couldnt get BUpdater to work, so I purchased a new chip from Ebay. The Rev 3 version of the old one I had. Once I plugged it in, it started with the PCI GPU with no problems.
