Hi, I've recently installed a MSI GTX 1050Ti 4GB Gaming X edition GPU in my PC as a replacement for my broken EVGA GTX 960 2GB. Anyway, it's great & I get great performance in every game (BeamNG.Drive, Just Cause 3, DOOM, etc.) . There is one game where performance isn't so great - as you'll have guessed from the title, it's Grand Theft Auto V.
When going for a gentle stroll, I get a solid 60FPS. Fine. But, that's not what GTA is about, is it? When I start moving quickly through the city, i.e. in a fast car, my FPS starts stuttering and drops for a few seconds to 37FPS, over time the stutters get more frequent and the FPS gets worse, the only way to stop it is to get out and continue on foot. This isn't good.
With my 960, I got a solid 60FPS almost all the time (it dropped to 40ish when several large explosions were happening.) This was all with high settings and no advanced graphical options.
I didn't change any settings after the switch to the 1050 so performance SHOULD be the same if not better. What's wrong?
PS: It's all very well telling you all about my GPU choice, but you'll need some other specs too -
CPU: Intel Core i5 2400 3.1GHz
GPU: MSI GTX 1050Ti Gaming X 4GB
Motherboard: Dell M5DCD
RAM: 8GB DDR3
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB HDD
External storage: 1TB Toshiba Cavio Basics USB HDD
OS: Windows 10 Pro x64
PSU: EVGA 430W
