I just bought this headset and initially plugged it in via USB. The quality was bad, the mic volume kept cutting out or going super low. So I just plugged the headset into the headset jack and the mic into its mic jack instead. Now testing the mic the volume is very low. I turned the mic volume all the way up, I have to have the mic super close to my mouth and basically yell into for it to sound decent. The quality is a lot better when NOT using usb but the mic is a lot louder when in usb. Any help? I am using windows 7 btw. I just want decent mic quality and I don't want to mic to keep cutting out/going real quiet when I am speaking.

I have the same headset but never experienced an issue like this. I have noticed i get much higher quality when using the USB instead of the 3.5mm jack. As for the cause of the low volume it likely stems from the gain settings on your system and i would try turning them up in the properties menu for the headset microphone. However it could be the test playback is the problem. Try downloading and opening Audacity and record a small amount of audio to see if it is being picked up properly. you should see the lines fill with blue peaks representing the waveform of your recording. the taller they are the greater the amplitude and the louder it will be at a given volume setting.

I was using audacity to check and i raised the volume under my mic properties but it didnt do anything. It somehow fixed itself though, I ended up trying to usb again and SOMEHOW it literally fixed itself. Making me think I'm crazy lol.
