Hi there,
I have the Asus PRIME X299-DELUXE motherboard. It has 8 RAM slots available. On the motherboard is a sticker stating that for Intel X-series (4-core) processors the RAM should be installed in slots C and D for 4-sticks. I have 4x16GB sticks, but the CPU is the i7-7820X (8-core) processor.

Which DIMM slots should I be using with 4 RAM sticks and an 8-core CPU?

Thank you!

The manual reads that for 6-core and above X-Series Processors, I can install "varying memory sizes in Channel A, Channel B, Channel C, and Channel D. But that didn't mean anything to me. However, after looking over the manual again, I see the previous page (that I somehow completely overlooked) actually does show that for 6-core and above it should be installed into A1, B1, C1, and D1.

Thanks,
-Stephen

So If I understand this correctly, there are usually either dual or quad channel, right? If dual channel I would always put the (in this case, 4) sticks in only 2 of the 4 (A,B,C,D) channels? But 4 channel would be a single stick in each of the 4? I guess I never knew what determined this- I always thought it was just determined by the motherboard.

Thanks for teaching me something new. I'm sure I'll have more questions along the way.
