I have just moved over from Microsoft to Apple products and I purchased a second user MacBook Pro 15" 2006. It works but I have found remnants of the previous owners details and I need to Factory Reset the mac. I have followed the instructions provided in Toms Guide for doing this several times but each time the mac boots to the existing front page. I never see the Mac OS X Utilities page. Any ideas please.

Without seeing the screen the only thing I can suggest is taking it to an Apple Store or Apple Dealer for advice.
Could be you've bought ex-educational or ex-corporate system that's been locked-down.

If you are an Admin on the computer, go into accounts and can delete other accounts (all of them). When it asks you what to do with home folder, choose delete. I believe 2006 is before they had internet recovery. I recently did this for a client.
