NVMe M.2 SSD or SATA III SSD for audio editing/processing?

So i'm looking to upgrade my 120 gb SATA III SSD which is nearly full. I am looking for at least double the space (atleast 256gb) but i do not know whether to continue with a SATA III SSD or bump up to an NVMe M.2 SSD.

I do a lot of recording of music; which involves editing and processing 96khz sound in Ableton Live, and soon Pro Tools as well. I also play video games, but i am not needing any improvements in load times for those, just improvements for processing audio and general PC functionality.

Which would be the best path to take considering i will be doing largely audio editing and processing?

Solution
Not all M.2 SSD are faster than ordinary SATA3, so you might not see any improvement. The jobs you are going to use it for are not going to see any improvement as they are mostly done in CPU and RAM.
