Hello everyone,

I host a media server that I like to share with a neighbor on a different network.
I would like to connect the Windows 10 machine containing the media like so:

Etthernet ---> internet connection (mine)
Wifi adapter ---> Local access only (neighbors)

I have tried the following options:
-set the WiFi connection up with a static IP on my neighbors WiFi, blank DNS. Unfortunately this does not work well at all.
-Set the metric value of the WiFi adapter higher and Ethernet lower, both using the UI and through Netsh. This doesnt even save the settings.
-Attempted to host a Ad-Hoc using Netsh Hosted network. unfortunately none of the WiFi network adapters I have laying around support this feature.

Not sure if this is even possible on Windows or any other OS.

But I'm hopeful to find someone who has an answer to this :)

I believe if you use PLEX your able to access it remotely, thus meaning your neighbor should be able to access it with a username & password, and maybe a possible creation of an separate account (not sure about this).

For Ex: I use PLEX in my household to host media (movies/shows) that I login in to my girlfriends house remotely, and watch. That might be a option for you.

I believe there is a way to allow your neighbor otherwise to access your media from your local network, but you'd have to create two separate networks (assuming there isn't) etc...

Hey thanks for the response,

PLEX isn't something I want to do as I would have to get the PLEX Pass for the sole purpose of my neighbor. I'm nice, but I'm not that nice ;)
Next to that my network would be uploading the whole time, don't really want that.

I'm just looking for a way to easily copy the files over.

You are right PLEX does work, I though it was a premium feature. unfortunately that would still count towards my 1TB data limit at Crapcast.
So I'm still looking for the original issue.
Thanks!
