i5 7600k vs ryzen 5 1600x on overclocking

I have a ryzen 5 1600 and have had a 1500x in the past, i can confirm they are very bad at overclocking.
Ok i already have an i3 7350k build so i would be better buying an i5 7600k
and overclock it than switch to Ryzen 5 1600 whole build? how much better for multitasking and rendering is the ryzen than the i5 7600k fully overclocked if its better by 20% more i"ll switch to ryzen i think

The i5 will clock better than the ryzen 5, but 12 threads are faster than 4 if your software can utilize them
