I'm sorry if I confuse anyone within this thread, I'll be confusing myself whilst writing it lol.
Basically, NAS wasn't my strong point but I believe I've got it going. Next issue is sorting network programs.

1) We have been using dropbox for years, as all we needed file syncing (only really have a few program saves and pdf+excel docs in there)
2) New laws stop us from using dropbox (not allowed to store in the USA) so I got a NAS drive for our network (theres only 3 employees)
3) Using Resilio for the file syncing between the laptops and the NAS.

Now comes the more complicated part that is slightly over my head, I believe I know the theory but going about it is a different question. Everything I google doesn't seem to show me any relevant results so i'm clearly asking the wrong question.

Two programs atm are installed on two laptops (1 each) but we now need to make these work on all PC's so of course, the packages will be updated to network rather than single user.

One of the programs just saves the data simply and as far as I know, this will be fine if all the programs are connected to the same rooted Resilio folder.

The other program though, runs off an SQL database. This is where my head falls off, I hate SQL enough as it is, nevermind sharing across a network. But that's not all, not only does it need to be shared across a network, it needs to be accessible from outside the network. We occassionally go out of the office to do work (and therefore need to access the programs and be able to work on it) and also two of the employees go away for a month in the summer and work - So this NEEDS to be available.

There is one PC on the network that is online 24/7, is it possible for that to be running the SQL database? As far as I know my NAS drive cannot run SQL server.

Anyone have any idea on what I can do? All help is greatly appreciated. Google isn't being much help.

Note- NAS drive is MyCloud Ex2 Ultra

Many thanks in advance
Liam

Correct!

Great thanks, I'll take a look at that.
