There's a .exe file that can't be seen on my destop, but as I search it in the start menu, and open its properties it shows desktop as location and 0 bytes size, however, when I try to delete it, an "item not found" dialog box appears saying "this is no longer located in C:\Users\S TECH\Desktop. verify the item's location and try again." in description, it says file size:262 MB. How can I delete it?

With Windows? It should work on every OS from Windows 2000 to Windows 7. I use it myself on Windows 7 when I have a file I can't delete for some reason.

Windows key -> cmd -> enter -> chkdsk C: /f (if not try chkdsk /f C :) and replace C with your volume letter -> enter, let it do it's thing. Also this process cannot be safely stopped or interrupted, it may take some time.

This I have personally used to remove files that were unremovable due to filesystem corruption and I completely forgot about this trick.

1. Open a command window as administrator
2. Type "chkdsk /f /v /r [drive]:" < Replace "[drive]" with the letter of the drive to be checked/repaired
3. If prompted to reboot, do so. Let it run to completion.
