Hey,

I just brought a cheap TP-Link TD-W9970 router to use as a Wireless Access Point. I set it all up, followed the instructions on how to configure the router using the guide on TP-Links website - http://www.tp-link.com/us/faq-417.html

My desktop, which is connected via ethernet works perfectly. I'm writing this post on it now. However when I try connecting wireless devices to it like my mobile. It can't obtain the IP address. I reactivated DCHP on the router, my mobile then can connect but has no internet access.

Is there anything I can try to fix this? Thanks everyone :)

Solution
find what your ip address is from your desktop that your getting from your ISP router, say its, 192.168.1.1,
THEN ON YOUR TP-Link........

1) Ignore the WAN section
2) In the LAN section, assign it a static ip address of 192.168,1,2.
3) Set up your SSID and give it a password. (BEST FOR TROUBLESHOOTING PURPOSES SET UP SSID, BUT
DON'T ENABLE A PASSWORD, WHEN YOU GET IT WORKING, THEN GO BACK AND SET UP PASSWORD.
4) Save configuration
5) Plug in your network cable going from your ISP modem, and plug into any port, EXCEPT THE WAN.
6) Get your wireless device and connect, you will get an ipaddress from your ISP router in the range that it's set up as. If you dont..... then power off both devices, turn on ISP router, wait a few...
Your desktop is connect via ethernet to your TP-Link or to your main router?

You have been able to log into your TP-Link with an IP address like 192.168.1.x ... can you also log into your main router with an address like 192.168.1.x? They have to be on the same network for it to work.

7) If it still doesn't work, make sure you can ping 192.168.1.2, or whatever address you used for the TP-Link

IF THAT DOESN'T WORK, THEN SOMETHING ELSE IS WRONG!!!!
