So I'm currently running an i5-4670 in my build but for some games it just hasn't been fit to stream well with it.
Was looking to upgrade hopefully to an i7.

Not too sure though if the processors I have been looking at will be compatible with my build is all.

Currently got a;
- GTX 1070 GPU
- H87-HD3 Motherobard

Was looking at either maybe an Intel i7-7700K or a i7-8700K
Then I just seen that the i7-7740X went on a good offer on Amazon so was maybe tempted by it.

Any help would be appreciated.

7700k,8700k and 7740x are out of the question, they are completely different sockets so you would need a new motherboard for all and new RAM

If you are serious about streaming then get a 8700K and compatible motherboard and RAM (I would suggest 8GBx2 for a total of 16 3000 or 3200mhz speed RAM). I would say save some money and get a 8700 if you dont plan on overclocking but right now I believe the only Mobos available are teh Z370 ones which all support overclocking so why intentionally limit it if you ever want to.

a decent upgrade would be an i7-4770 but if that’s not enough for you then you would need to upgrade your motherboard/ram to handle the newer generation cpus and overclocking

Ah I see, any way I can tell easily which RAM will work best with a 8700k and a Z370 mobo. I've currently got 28Gb of Ballistix Sport RAM.

RAM has gotten seriously expensive since I last looked at buying some. What would you recommend?

RAM is high because supply isnt keeping up. The rumor is that there will be new plants opening soon (no idea what soon means) and price will go down. As far as RAM I would get 3000 or 3200 mhz speed RAM from Corsair, GSKill or any other name brand. I personally have Corsair LPX and my buddy has some GSkill RGB stuff that seems nice.
