Is this used gaming pc worth $500?

Solution

If that's what it really is... Maybe, but I just dunno. We know for sure the COOLER isn't right so what else is BS with that build.

Looks like they put together the cheapest junk mITX they could then through in an old SSD for the HD.

And now are tying to dump it off.

That's what it looks like.

I wouldn't deal with it at all.

Red flags flying everywhere....

It's ok for a gaming system.

Nope, not worth it.

$400 its a bargain, $500 its still worth it if that is honestly the max you have to spend.

The psu is mediocre, the 960 is pretty low end now & will managemedium setting gaming at best ,the mitx format is slightly restrictive when it comes to upgrades but its not a bad little system for what it is as a fully built working setup with no messing about.

I wouldn't touch it for anything more than $300, have to upgrade too many things and it's an mITX.

Would have to upgrade the PSU, RAM(All of it), GPU..... And the M.2 SSD isn't NVMe, it's SATA so likely have to change that too and add another drive for more storage.

Not sure what the cooler really is because they didn't put that 212 EVO in that desktop case, NO WAY..... Max is 80mm height in that case. The 212 EVO is 159mm.

All that said I wouldn't go near it with any money since we don't know what it really is.

Would have to verify exactly what the parts in it actually are FOR REAL.

While there are some inconsistencies in the build such as the cooler height/case it's really not bad for the price, pieced out it could probably be sold for more then $500 and trying to build one with that budget will be difficult to match performance. I'd say meet him in the middle at $450 and have him pay for shipping.

Are the components up to date? Meaning I should have to upgrade the cpu or graphix card for a while?

Depends on what performance you consider ok and which games, at 1080P/60hz you'll be looking at around low-med settings currently so as far as how long it last could only be a year, maybe less and if you where to upgrade your looking at replacing the CPU/GPU & PSU. But like I say it depends on what your ok with, personally I could game off my dads system (AMD X4 850/8gb DDR3/GT 1030 @900P/60hz) if it came down to it.

What is the absolute most you can spend on a build? Also given if the budget is enough and you don't mind building it you can save a bit of cash. Also do you require any peripherals.
